New products/The company has successfully developed a photocatalytic finishing agent used in textiles!

With the increasing pursuit of green sustainable development and healthy life today, Shanghai Jiecon Chemical Hi-Tech Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Jiecon"), with its profound scientific research strength and unremitting innovation spirit, successfully developed a revolutionary textile photocatalytic finishing agent and submitted an invention patent on August 4, 2022.

In September 2024, Shanghai Jiecon Chemical Hi-Tech Co., LTD. (referred to as Jiecon) and Shanghai Guofan Chemical New-Material Co., LTD., jointly applied for the invention patent "Fabric deodorant finishing liquid, its application and photocatalytic deodorant fabric manufacturing method" was authorized.

First, innovative science and technology, enabling the new future of textiles

Photocatalyst (photocatalyst) after absorbing sunlight or ultraviolet light source, oxidation and reduction reactions occur, producing hydroxyl free radicals and superoxygen free radicals, which can react with organic matter and cut off the molecular binding of organic matter (C-C, C-H, C-N, C=O, N-H, etc.). Decompose the harmful substances and microorganisms in the air into harmless carbon dioxide and water, as shown in the following figure:

 

This photocatalytic finishing agent is the crystallization of Jiecon's scientific research team after several years of dedicated research and repeated trials. It cleverly combines photocatalyst technology and textile finishing process, through the uniform adhesion of nano-scale photocatalyst particles, unprecedented to give textiles self-cleaning, antibacterial, antiviral, deodorization and air purification comprehensive capabilities. Under light conditions, these tiny and powerful particles can continue to decompose harmful substances in the air, such as formaldehyde, TVOCs (total volatile organic compounds) and bacteria and viruses, creating a healthier and cleaner living environment for consumers.

According to the market demand and customer needs, Jieccon timely developed a photocatalytic finishing agent that can play a good role under visible light and ultraviolet conditions for the development of related textiles. The following is the performance test of the developed photocatalytic finishing agent applied to textiles:

1. Antibacterial performance of photocatalyst under visible light (Chinese national standard)

According to the Chinese national standard GB/T 30706-2014 "Antibacterial test methods and evaluation of photocatalytic antibacterial materials and products under visible light irradiation", the antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in the test samples was 99%, and the light contribution rate was 67%. The test shows that the fabric treated with the photocatalyst finishing agent developed by our company has good antibacterial properties and good washing resistance under visible light conditions.

2. Antibacterial performance of photocatalyst under ultraviolet (Chinese national standard)

According to the Chinese national standard GB/T 23763-2009 "Evaluation of antibacterial properties of photocatalytic antibacterial materials and products", the antibacterial rate of Staphylococcus aureus was greater than 99% ,and Escherichia coli in the test samples was  99% (ultraviolet light contribution value 80%). The test shows that it has more obvious antibacterial properties and good washing resistance under ultraviolet conditions.

3. Antibacterial performance of photocatalyst under ultraviolet (Japanese standard)

According to JIS R 1702:2020 ガラス close adhesion method (under ultraviolet), the antibacterial activity value of Staphylococcus aureus in the test sample was 3.6, and the antibacterial activity value of photocontribution was 1.9. The antibacterial activity of Bacillus pneumoniae was 3.6, and the antibacterial activity of photocontribution was 1.0. The test results show that the fabric treated with the photocatalytic finishing agent developed by our company has obvious photocatalytic activity, can produce good antibacterial action, and has good washing resistance.

4, Photocatalyst deodorization performance under UV conditions (Japanese standard)

According to the Japan standard: 纎維評(píng)価技術(shù)協(xié)議會(huì) SEKマ一ク纎維製品認(rèn)証基準(zhǔn)22.光觸媒消臭性試(檢知管法)(紫外線條件下) the test sample under bright conditions of ammonia deodorization rate is 99%, the photocatalyst effect is 38%; The deodorization rate of acetaldehyde was 98%, and the photocatalytic effect was 84%. The test results show that the fabric treated with the photocatalytic finishing agent developed by our company has obvious photocatalytic activity, can produce good deodorization effect, and has good washing resistance.

5. Antiviral performance of photocatalytic finishing agent (refer to ISO 18184-2019)

The fabrics treated with photocatalytic finishing agent were tested for anti-virus, and the test results were as follows:

    The antiviral activity rate of the photocatalyst treated fabric against influenza virus H1N1 (envelope virus) was >99.99%, and it had excellent antiviral performance.

 

The antiviral activity rate of the photocatalyst treated fabric against enterovirus EV71 (non-coated virus) was 96.77%, and it also had good antiviral performance.

It can be seen from the above test data that under visible light conditions, the photocatalyst finishing agent has good antiviral performance against the representative viruses including the enveloped viruses and non-enveloped viruses. This shows that the photocatalytic finishing agent developed by our company has a good antiviral activity rate against viruses under visible light conditions.
